Turmerry Product Certifications

At Turmerry, we are committed to offering products that are trustworthy in their safety. Thus, we work with factories and suppliers who meet some of the most respected certifications in the bedding industry. These independent standards are proof that every step of our process, from sourcing raw materials to final production, is done with integrity, with transparency, and with care for both our own people and our beloved Mother Earth.

GOLS

The Global Organic Latex Standard (GOLS) is a globally recognized certification that assures quality latex products with minimum chemical inputs. It defines requirements for organically grown rubber latex and the processing that follows. Under GOLS, a certified latex product (mattress, topper, pillow, etc.) must contain at least 95% certified organic raw latex by weight. The standard also imposes strict limits on additives and environmental controls during manufacturing. Key aspects of GOLS include:

  • Organic Content - To carry the GOLS label, a product must be almost entirely organic latex. Only up to 5% of the weight can be non-organic (and even that must be approved material).
  • Processing Criteria - GOLS requires factories to follow robust health and safety practices and to test emissions. It focuses on human health, safety, welfare, and the environment during the manufacturing process of latex goods.
  • Traceability - Certified manufacturers maintain chain-of-custody records for all organic latex inputs, and products undergo regular independent inspections. This ensures full traceability from the rubber tree plantation to the final product.

By meeting GOLS requirements, we can assure customers that our latex bedding truly comes from sustainable, organic sources and is manufactured responsibly.

GOTS

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the world’s leading certification for organic fabrics. It sets strict criteria for the entire textile supply chain, from harvesting fiber on the farm through manufacturing to final labeling, ensuring responsible practices and transparency. Key points of GOTS include:

  • Organic Fiber Requirement - GOTS products must contain at least 70% certified organic natural fibers (cotton, wool, etc.). To label a product “organic,” at least 95% of its fibers must be organic. (The remaining fibers may be non-organic only if they meet GOTS criteria.)
  • Strict Chemical Restrictions - All processing aids and dyes must meet high biodegradability and toxicity standards. GOTS outright bans many toxic substances. For example, chlorine bleach, formaldehyde, heavy-metal dyes, and GMO materials are prohibited. Only approved, eco-friendly inputs are allowed.
  • Ethical Production - GOTS also enforces strong social and environmental guidelines at every production stage. Certified facilities must monitor water and energy use, waste disposal, and labor conditions. In short, GOTS ensures a fully traceable organic textile chain with fair working conditions and minimal ecological impact.

Together, these rules give the GOTS label its credibility as a “farm-to-fabric” standard for truly organic, eco-friendly textiles.

OEKO-TEX

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is a globally recognized safety certification for textiles. Rather than focusing on organic content, it focuses on chemical safety. When a fabric or product bears the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 label, it means every component (threads, buttons, zippers, fabrics, etc.) has been tested for harmful substances. In practice, this means:

  • Harmful Substance Testing - Manufacturers test their products against a list of over 1,000 regulated chemicals (pesticides, formaldehyde, heavy metals, allergenic dyes, etc.). Only items that “pass safety tests for the presence of harmful substances” can carry the Standard 100 label.
  • Safety Guarantee - OEKO-TEX certifies that a product is “harmless to human health,” even in the most sensitive application (skin contact with infants, for example). The limits are stricter for products meant for close skin contact, and all limits are updated yearly to reflect current science.
  • Universal Recognition - Because it uses uniform global criteria, OEKO-TEX is widely trusted as a mark that textiles meet or exceed legal safety requirements for chemicals.

Turmerry’s latex foam is sourced from certified suppliers whose materials carry OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certifications. While Turmerry itself is not a certificate holder, we ensure our foam meets these stringent safety standards through our trusted manufacturing partners.

eco-INSTITUT

The eco-INSTITUT label is a certification (originating in Germany) for very low emissions of pollutants from indoor products, including bedding and mattresses. Earning this label means the product passed rigorous laboratory testing for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other contaminants. Key points about eco-INSTITUT:

  • Lab-Tested for Low Emissions - Products are tested in specialized chambers (ISO 16000 testing) to measure outgassing of VOCs and other chemicals over time. Only products with extremely low emission levels (often far below legal limits) qualify.
  • Strict Pollutant Limits - The certification bans or severely restricts a wide range of hazardous substances, including phthalates, formaldehyde, pesticides, heavy metals, and more. In practice, an eco-INSTITUT-certified mattress or bedding item has negligible trace amounts of these toxins, if any, ensuring it won’t off-gas harmful fumes.
  • Better Indoor Air Quality - Because of these criteria, eco-INSTITUT is considered one of the most stringent labels for indoor-product safety. Consumers can be confident that eco-INSTITUT-certified products contribute less pollution to the home environment and are a good choice for people with chemical sensitivities or allergies.

Turmerry’s latex foam is sourced from certified suppliers whose materials carry eco-INSTITUT certifications. While Turmerry itself is not a certificate holder, we ensure our foam materials meet these high indoor air quality and low-emission standards through our trusted manufacturing partners.

Turmerry Independent Lab-Tested Results

Independent Lab-Tested Results

Alongside respected third-party certifications, we’ve also conducted independent lab testing through Applied Technical Services (ATS), a leading ISO/IEC 17025-accredited U.S. laboratory recognized for its accurate, science-based chemical analysis.

These tests check for some of the most concerning chemicals found in conventional bedding. Here’s what the results show:

  • Formaldehyde-Free - Our latex foam tested below 16 parts per million (ppm) for formaldehyde, well under international safety thresholds like OEKO-TEX® and REACH. This indicates that no detectable levels were present in the material.
  • PFAS-Free - Also known as “forever chemicals,” PFAS compounds are under growing scrutiny for their potential health risks. Our foam’s total fluorine content came in under 100 ppm, a threshold widely recognized as indicating no detectable PFAS.
  • Phthalate-Free - Phthalates are plasticizers linked to potential hormone disruption and are banned in many children’s products. Our latex passed GC/MS testing with non-detectable levels of all 10 major phthalates. This includes compliance with CPSIA Section 108(a) and California Prop 65 guidelines, two of the strictest phthalate safety standards in the U.S.

Each of these test results reinforces what our certifications already guarantee: Turmerry products are held to a higher standard. From the raw latex tree to the final sleep surface, we work hard to eliminate harmful substances and give you and your family a better night’s sleep.
